Research

Cognitive/Visual Neuroscience. I study the role of vision in the control of eye movements using visual psychophysics, eye tracking, and electrophysiology. This has led me to study the role of early visual processing areas (superior colliculus [SC] primary visual cortex [V1]) in the coding of visual salience, and how low-level vision is integrated with high-level cognition to generate efficient oculomotor behavior in complex scenes. To this end, we have been using a computational saliency model to predict neuronal responses in the SC and V1 during free viewing of natural dynamic video.
