More than 95% of all companies within the European Union are small and medium-sized entreprises.
And more than 80% of those SMEs are microentreprises, i.e. companies with a workforce of less than 10 employees.
Microentreprises provide the majority of jobs across Europe and are the sustainable driving force in any economy. However, due to their limited financial and technical resources microentrepreneurs and their staff are mostly excluded from lifelong learning. One major reason for this is the non-availability of learning content that is designed to help microentrepreneurs with their specific issues or learning needs.
