Part 1 of "Drosophila Genetics and Evolution" includes several Drosophila genetic experiments that reinforce student understanding of Mendelian genetics and engage students in scientific practices such as making predictions and gathering evidence to test their predictions. Part 2 of this hands-on activity discusses and demonstrates natural selection in a Drosophila population. The third file below has the Student Handout and the first file has the Teacher Preparation Notes. 

The Drosophila EvolutionTeacher PD PowerPoint has images prepared by Emily and Katherine, including the figure that links the Drosophila life cycle to images from The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The Drosophila Eye Color PowerPoint by Dr. Greg Guild outlines findings from genetics research about how genes control Drosophila eye color, as well as findings that are helping researchers to understand Huntington's Disease in humans.

The last file has the PowerPoint for "How Chromosomes Travel from One Generation to the Next" by Dr. Mia Levine.
