Donating & Membership

Please consider sharing your charitable dollars with the Oberlin
community by contributing to The Bill Long Foundation.

We have a proud, local history. Founded over 25 years ago by the members of the Co-op Bookstore to honor Bill Long, we follow the principles of participatory democracy and local impact that Bill championed. Our members, board and the causes we fund are all part of the Oberlin community.

We serve the whole community. Last year, we gave away a total of $35,460 to 18 Oberlin organizations, including Oberlin African Genealogy Group, Oberlin Community Services, Northern Ohio Youth Orchestra, Road to Hope House, Friends of Westwood Cemetery and many others.

We remain thrifty and efficient. All of our unrestricted annual donations are used to meet community needs. We have no employees, no overhead and few expenses. Our application process is as simple as possible.

We are growing and evolving. We continue to forge collaborative relationships with local organizations.

We are you. By making a $10.00 donation or more ($5.00 for students), you become a member of The Bill Long Foundation.

We invite you to attend the Annual Meeting for members on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, and help allocate the grant money. At the Annual Meeting, you can talk with representatives of the charitable causes about their organizations and what they do. Then you vote on how to distribute the funds. This lively event is a highlight of the year as we come together to give away money! Join us for fellowship at 6:30pm in the Auditorium at Kendal at Oberlin. Our meeting will start promptly at 7:00pm.

Now is a great time to join or renew! It's easy to do: download the Membership Form by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page, fill in the enclosed form and return it with your contribution, or give through Paypal (link button below).

Help us spread the word about this valuable Foundation. Ask your friends to consider joining as well.

Please join us for the Annual Bill Long Birthday Bash on January 7, from 5:00-7:00pm at Ben Franklin-MindFair. If you are new to the organization, this is a great way to learn more about it, meet the current board members and get the new year off to a great start.
