Bill started playing percussion as a toddler in the school band and was given his first guitar aged eleven. During the sixties he played in various Rock and Pop bands and finally landed a banjo for his 21st birthday.

Bill has travelled a long way since then, visiting and living in many places, including a six-year tour of the USA, Spain and Portugal, soaking up musical influences along the way. Bill says that "The Seventies were my banjonic formative years. At first I wanted to learn almost every banjo tune I could get my hands on".

Would you buy a banjo from this man?

Perhaps not, but you really should see and hear him play.

Bill played banjo semi-professionally for ten years before becoming a full-time musician as a member of the original Silver Hill String Band (with John T and JK). He has been a session banjo player and has also played on radio and television. In his spare time Bill often takes the opportunity to join in on environmental projects with JK. This aspect of Bill's life shines through on the music he provides for JK's 'Earth Music' - Electric/Bluegrass/Country.
