The Inter-Agency Task Force for Bicycling and Active Transportation, known as FedBikes, is a group of U.S. government employees that provides information to federal agencies in support of bicycling to and from federal facilities. An initial focus of the group is the Washington, D.C. area.
The FedBikes task force is recognized under the guidelines Implementing a Successful Bicycle and Active Commuting Program in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area, issued in 2010 pursuant to Executive Order 13514, Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance. These guidelines indicate that agency participation in the task force is highly recommended.
FedBikes typically meets on a monthly basis. Meetings are open to any federal manager, employee, or contractor with an interest in cycling. In addition, representatives of non-federal cycling-related organizations, such as local transportation agencies or advocacy groups, may attend meetings upon invitation.
