Frequently Asked Questions

What is bicycle and pedestrian data used for?
Bicycle and pedestrian Traffic data is used to support and supplement engineering operations and systems design projects.  For example, hourly bicycle and pedestrian volume data that is 24 hours in duration with individual hourly volume data by direction provides engineers with data to determine passage for bicycles and pedestrians through a signalized intersection.  This data identifies where additional bicycle and pedestrian crossing signals need to be installed.  Traffic data also provides data that allows traffic and safety engineers to evaluate usage and determine the need and viability of making facility improvements such as adding future bicycle lanes to a highway.
