2001 Iholena Street 0710
2011 January 23 - This old Chinese woman had the chutzpah to wander in after us and start asking questions as we were taking a second look at the tiny Alewa Heights house on 2001 Iholena St., MLS 1014563 . Made me laugh. Anyway: the kitchen sink leaks. There are water stains on the ceiling, which might mean a roof replacement. Google Earth shows images of the house, where I think I can see the roof peeling away. Water damage? Bug damage? They did appear to redo the electrical wiring and there are good grounded outlets around the house. The water heater and washer/dryer also seem fairly new. Other stuff: the previous owner/renter nailed a rod to the frame inside a kitchen window so it can't be closed. The windows themselves are old style storm windows and are going to require disassembly and repair so they slide smoothly, a big job. There might be termites. It's a 1940's house of about 456 sq. ft. The lot is a little over twice that, but it's an odd shape and located at a very odd corner and there's no parking. Asking price is currently $270k fee simple. That's a fair amount above what I am okay with spending, and to have some major work ahead on top of that... yeah, I really don't know. It's been on the market for some 15 months now. I imagine it would be a difficult resell too. /thoughtful
