Stars and Stripes Pound Cake

1 1/2 cups butter, softened 

3 cups sugar

1 (8 oz) package cream cheese

6 large eggs

3 cups all-purpose flour

Red Food Coloring

Blue Food Coloring

*Whipped Topping and Fruit** optional


Preheat oven to 350F. 
In a stand mixer, beat butter until creamy. Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add cream cheese, mix well. Add eggs, 1 at a time, mix well after adding each one. Slowly add in the flour. Mix on low speed until completely blended. Stir in rum extract.Divide batter into 3 bowls. Leave one white, color one blue and color one red.Pour 1/2 of the blue batter into a bundt pan. (Or whatever pan you're using)Pour a thin strip of white batter in the center of the blue layer. Cover with the remaining blue batter.Pour a layer of Red Batter, pour a layer of white batter and finish with a layer of red batter. Bake at 350F for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Or until done. Let cool for 1 hour on a wire rack. Invert onto cake plate. Slice and Serve. *I love pound cake with whipped topping and fruit*Details
