Medha's new baritone euphonium. Although the euphonium and the baritone are not the same instrument - there are technical differences - they are considered to be the same in the US. So this is a baritone / euphonium. She has "Instrumentals" in 5th grade and must pick a brass or wind or percussion instrument. If she does not, she has to do a Fine Arts project every trimester and make a presentation. It would also mean that in Middle School, she cannot do Instrumentals and would only be eligible for choir. This thing is huge. I don't know what she was thinking. By itself, it's not that heavy but in the case, it weighs a ton. I have to drive her and pick her on the two days she has instrumentals in any case so it won't matter much except that we will need to leave much earlier so that I can park somewhere and help her into the school instead of just dropping her off. And it is expensive. I don't know what a new one costs but this used thing costs $2500. We're renting and it's $55 per month and I had to spend another $75 on the music stand and the accessory kit, which includes instructions on how to use and clean this thing. Right now, my home is filled with deep melodic farting sounds.

The Antwerp Museum Vleeshuis (Butchers’ Guild Hall) is located in "Het Vleeshuis" a guild hall for Antwerp butchers built between 1501 and 1504. The museum opened in 2006 and focusses on music life in Antwerp throughout the centuries. Instruments, prints, manuscripts, books, paintings and scale-models narrate the story of minstrels, carilloneurs, opera singers, music in the church or on the streets, public concerts, and dance halls after 1800. Reconstructions of the bell-foundry of Sergeys and the workshop for brass instruments of Van Engelen also fire the imagination. A unique hand computer enriches a visit with further music and information.
