In just 3,600 feet (between Damen and Western), there are 13 driveways on the northbound side and 2 signalized intersections. That's 15 opportunities to be right or left hooked (going northbound, the direction of this photo). Drivers block the bike lane all day every day. Don't even THINK about riding your bike here on Saturday. That is when drivers use the entire width of the roadway and create ~4 lanes of traffic. What if this was all changed and a two-way center protected bike went in and drivers could only enter parking lots at signalized intersections. The center protected bike lane could continue from Western to Ashland, a distance of 1.37 miles (2.2km).

Grr. Stop driving with two wheels in the bike lane. It's just as wrong and illegal as four wheels in the bike lane. Milwaukee Avenue is the busiest street for cycling. It also has the most crashes - I haven't yet done analysis on what level of injury/fatality, yet. I believe most of the intersections can see some improvement, especially Chicago/Ogden/Milwaukee and Augusta/Kennedy ramp/Milwaukee.
