'Buy Nothingday Cargo bike Ride'
Dawg gon-it, my camera just wasn't cooperating on this ride, but at least I caught some of the flare. Val's ready for just about any bicycle related disaster with Dread Nought, his massive hauling work horse. A wimpy rim strip took out the front tube on the trailing Trek at the Pike Street Pig, so this rider almost thought the ride was over before it began. Not so, thanks to Val's clever front fork holder with quick release. The tube was sorted-out at the picnic and the Trek road happily there after. Some may think we over-do it with the stuff we schlep. Okay, we didn't need three axes, several floor-stand air pumps, a full thermos of three day old coffee I forgot was there, etc... but at least no one goes hungry even if their contribution to this picnic were only four Toblerone chocolate bars (my only left overs from T.G. Day). We road to Hat and Boots Park and wasted no time in getting two grills and the pot belly stove going. Soon there after, the trolls came out of their hiding places (trolls defined as parasitic opportunist with a sob story of why life has been unfair to them, hence the need to scab of others with a scheme, "I couldn't feed my family yesterday, so can you give me food and (booze) money?" Don't get me wrong. I'm not heart-less, just annoyed when they attempt to exploit my good conscience with a fat lie. Any how, enough said other than it was a great ride and surely one of the more memorable ones :-) Update: It is with a heavy heart that I convey to you that our good friend Val has pass away on August 10, 2011. Val worked hard to create the fine legacy he will be known for. He lived and breathed cargo bikes. The cargo bike rides will never be the same, without the crack of Val's whip, the clam chowder on January 1st, or Dread Nought.
Truing Stand 1
The TV stand is upside down, the longer arms which were meant to sit on the floor have been shortened and are at the top. The part where the TV is meant to sit is at the bottom and provides a flat and sturdy surface for mounting to the baseboard. The board is a piece of shelving, surfaced chipboard about 18mm thick that has been sat in my garage for the last15 years. Seen service as shelves and was donated by my brother. One leg of the stand is secured in fixed holes, the other is in slots as can be seen to allow adjustment for different widths of hubs. I carefully marked the base board to position the movable leg at the correct place. The legs are not completely flat, there is a raised section about 40mm from the end which is hanging over the base board. I used the front edge of the base board as a reference line by making sure the raised section on both legs were butted up to the edge. The 'drop ins', where the hub clamps are positioned against the original plastic foot of the TV stand. This made it easy to ensure they were both in line and the wheel running parallel to the legs. Leaving some overhang also makes the whole stand a little more stable, though this isn't really an issue.

Over the next 30 years, Blackburn's spark of innovation would lead to many revolutionary products, like the first high quality aircraft aluminum rack, the first dual stroke minipump, the first oversized mountain minipump and the first dual stage/dual stroke floorpump just to name a few. For 2005, Blackburn's creative spark is burning brighter than ever. And as we head into our 30th year, Blackburn is re-dedicated to designing smart, reliable, no nonsense accessories that are essential to your riding experience.
