"To travel by bicycle is a humble, nonagressive way to get close to people.
It is a way of saying we are passing through with
no thought of invasion or conquest,
only the simple will to share a part of the road."

The League of American Bicyclists Awards Arvada
as a "Bicycle Friendly Community."

In 2008 the League of American Bicyclists confirmed what area bicyclists knew:  Arvada is a Bicycle Friendly Community.  This award was brought about by a concerted effort and many hours of hard work by City staff, citizen advisors, Bike Jeffco, and the entire Arvada community.  Arvada was specifically noted for its 189 miles of off-streetfacilities and 74 miles of on-street facilities, and the fact that 50% of our arterial streets have bike lanes.  See more about the League's program to recognize "Bicycle Friendly Communities" here (Opens in new window).
