About Us

AIMS: The aim of the Tuesday Club, for both adults and juniors, whatever their playing level, is to have fun and improve their game and fitness as a result. We will run various coaching sessions and mini-tournaments from time to time. We have very few rules but politeness and fair play is a by-word of all sports and ours is no exception.  We treat each other and the equipment with respect and try and help each player get an equal amount of time on court.

WHEN?: The Club runs all through the year at The Cooper School in Bicester, Oxfordshire (www.thecooperschool.co.uk), unless the hall is unavailable due to exams or other school functions. The school is manned by Cherwell Council employed staff who are first aiders and responsible for security and suitability of the site.

NOTE TO PARENTS: As a mixed age-group club within a multi-use sports facility, we advise that for those U18’s being dropped off by parents, could parents ensure their child is left only while one of the responsible adults is present and please collect punctually. Please see your child into the sports hall, and pick them up from there at the end. We do not recommend children to wait alone in the car park and cannot take any responsibility once they have left the hall.

If you feel like coming along, you can just turn up on the night and ask for David or Paul.

*The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) helps prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. It replaces the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA).

The entrance to The Cooper School is situated on Churchill Road, Bicester, directly opposite the White Horse Pub at the pedestrian crossing lights.
Follow the entrance road around to the left, to the car park at the rear of the school.
The pedestrian entrance to the Sports Complex is in the corner by the (normally floodlit) outdoor football pitches.
Walk directly ahead with the football pitches on your left. The Sports Hall is directly ahead of you.
Entrance is via a door half-way along the glass corridor on your right, then immediately left into the hall. Welcome!

More Badminton in Bicester . . .

Further progression is possible to the league Club which plays on Fridays at 7:30pm, at the Bicester Leisure Centre (http://bicesterbadminton.leaguerepublic.com/index.html) . They also offer taster sessions in the "off" season between May-August, with a view to match-playing the following September.

  • We need volunteers for our next Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on Saturday 14th April. Please let David, Paul or Bea know if you're able to help out on the day!
  • The Yonex All England Badminton Championships are being held between the 14th and 18th March 2018 at the Arena Birmingham. Go to https://www.allenglandbadminton.com/ for ticket information.
  • Improving your game:
      • 1) Who would be interested in an 8-
week “Essentials” badminton course (serving, grip, footwork,
        clears, drops, smash etc)?
          • 2) or competing competitively with a different club or school team?
That edge of competition will be fun and help raise your game for those who wish to. In the course of the year we will run our own mini tournaments amongst ourselves. Let us know if you are interested in any of this. We will need sufficient numbers and possibly arrange additional court time depending on response.
  • The Bunnings Sausage Sizzle we ran last Saturday, 13th January was very well received
and we had great fun. We raised £140 - in the depths of
Winter - for our club and took a lot of inquiries from potential
new players. So we certainly raised our profile, and we'd like
to run another Sizzle in the near future - so watch this space!
