Matt Butterworth, W4JMB, took over as the Macon-Bibb EC on 11/16/2015 from Bob Currey , W4ALQ. Bob, W4ALQ, announced his need to step back a bit and graciously took an AEC position. The following AEC listing was also announced;
Bob Currey (W4ALQ) AEC Liaison Macon-Bibb Emergency Management Agency EOC
David Canady (W4DJC) AEC for Outside Services, including the GEMA Area 4 Van, Go-Kits and Field setup
Hurb Ingles (W1DOG) AEC for Training and WX4EMA Equipment and also remains the Public Information Officer
Kerry Hatcher (KK4TGA) who will be AEC for IT
Ric Wolverton (KK4IWO) AEC Public Safety
Stephen Hutto (N4HUT) AEC Medical Services/Hospital Liaison and Skywarn AEC
Matt jumped in with several planning meetings, setting up organizational charts and descriptions of each AECs role in the newly formed organization. There are many things yet to be accomplished over the short term in preparation for a general membership drive by this fledgling leadership. The promise is that the Macon-Bibb Amateur Radio Emergency Service will become a model for the Central Georgia area and a hub for surrounding Counties' ARES. Matt is placing an emphasis on developing a fun, organized and trained cadre of radio operators at the ready if "All Else Fails' when the next local emergency or disaster strikes. Matt expects sometime in January that recruitment for general membership will begin.
Let's join in wishing Matt and his staff, Luck and Happiness, in their new roles!
