Bharath Balasubramanian

Hello! I am a principal inventive scientist in the Cloud Software Research department at ATT Labs. Our team builds systems that enable QoS guarantees in a highly virtualized, distributed environment. This aspect of research is fundamental to ATT's vision of Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN). In general my research interests traverse:
  • Distributed coordination, fault tolerance and state management in data center applications
  • Distributed storage with a focus on erasure coding and deduplication in large scale systems
  • Resource allocation and scheduling in distributed analytics platforms like Hadoop
  • Edge Computing, Fog Computing and IoT
  • <fill in any other buzz word I may have left out>
In a prohibitively long, but very enjoyable Ph.D. at UT Austin under Vijay Garg, I focused on coding-theoretic fault-tolerance in distributed systems.
