Initial support & One to One sessions

What can I do?
It is normal to feel a great deal of confusion, pain and sadness after a loved one dies. Some people find it helpful to
read about the experiences of other bereaved people and/or information about grief and loss.
Telephone Information Support
For others, they need to talk with someone who has "been there".
You can call our office at 416-440-0290  Monday to Thursday between 10:00am and 4:30pm and speak with one of  our staff members to find out about the BFO-Toronto program that will be best help you; or get a referral to other programs and services available in Toronto.

We endeavour to answer all phone calls, however due to the nature of information we provide over the telephone we may be busy on another line. If you call and your call goes unanswered, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Or send us an e-mail:

Please note that because BFO-Toronto believes that whenever a person reaches out for support it is the right time for them; we are not able to return phone calls made on behalf of someone. We can provide program information to third parties that they can then pass on, but initial phone calls for support need to be made by the individual themselves.

I feel like I can't go on...
Feeling hopeless and full of despair can lead you to question whether or not you want to go on living. It's okay to talk with us about how bad you are feeling. As bereaved persons ourselves, we know those moments of feeling alone, isolated and terribly sad. When we're not available, here are some other
numbers you can call

One to One Session
Depending on the group our trained volunteers may provide you with an initial one on one support session to give you a safe place to share your story with someone who understands because they have experienced a similar loss. This meeting is a chance for you to get some immediate support and also to explore the possibility of joining a mutual support bereavement group. One to one’s are available for certain groups so please contact the office for more details.
