Adopt A Day

THE ADOPT A DAY PROGRAM of the Beyond Extreme Energy Week of Action

Beyond Extreme Energy wants to ensure that our actions during the week of November 3-7 adequately reflect the depth and diversity of concerns about FERC and the fossil fuel industries in this country, and we want to give other groups an opportunity to make sure their voices are heard. Without you doing a lot of work, we may  have the resources to amplify the messages and experiences which you want articulated. This is the purpose of Adopt a Day.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO ADOPT A DAY?

In collaboration with the Beyond Extreme Energy team, your group can help plan the messaging and action scenario for a specific  day of the week of November 3-7. The Beyond Extreme Energy will provide the logistical structure and many people to help your group to get its message across to FERC. BXE will integrate your messaging and your concerns into our actions. You can also make suggestions about other targets in the DC area which you might like us to focus some attention on.

WHAT KINDS OF GROUPS CAN ADOPT A DAY?

We’re looking for national and local organizations, coalitions and networks, campaigns, churches, and identity groups (like students, people of faith or grandparents). We’re looking for any groups of people who want to take action with us and highlight their issue related to FERC.

HOW TO ADOPT A DAY

Please think about how your community is being impacted by the various forms of extreme energy extraction — fracking, tar sands, deep ocean drilling, Arctic drilling, and surface mining and undermining practices such as mountaintop removal and longwall coal mining, and the like. Talk to your friends or the organizations in your area about the possibilities of getting your voices heard in Washington at FERC.

Then get in touch with Steve Norris at earthsun2@gmail.com or 828-777-7816. We will discuss possible ways of collaborating, and try to both amplify your concerns and messages, and use your energy to make a greater impact on FERC, the US government, and the fossil fuel industries.

We look forward to working with you.
