What is Counselling?

Counselling is sometimes called “the talking cure” and gives clients the opportunity to talk confidentially to a qualified professional in a comfortable safe supportive environment.

Counselling involves an initial assessment followed by a series of formal sessions, typically 6 to 12 sessions. My focus is on building a trusting respectful relationship with my clients.

In my work, I offer a warm, sensitive and compassionate place for you to make sense of your thoughts and feelings in a way and at a pace that feels right for you. I am very empathic and will ensure that you are heard, understood and fully accepted for who you are.

I am trained in a number of therapeutic modalities, including person-centred & CBT which allows me to tailor therapy to each client’s particular situation and needs. I am passionate about providing effective therapy, enabling clients to overcome obstacles and to reach the goals that are important to them.

Counsellors play a crucial role in improving the health and well-being of our society. The aim of counselling is usually for the client to feel more in control of their life and to allow the client to make positive changes and to provide clients with the necessary ‘tools’ in order to live in a way that is more satisfying and productive.
