Old Hundred Banana Bread

  • bananas
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 3/4 flour
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • eggs


Blend mashed bananas, sugar and eggs, and shortening. Add nuts. Sift dry ingredients and add to dry ingredients and add to mixture. Mix swiftly,  pour in pan. Bake 30 mins in slow oven (350°). 

The bananas should not be green, just yellow, flecked with brown at the tip.
