Jamie Fellner, Esq., Senior Advisor of the U.S. Program of Human Rights Watch, is engaged in research, documentation and advocacy on US criminal justice issues using a human rights framework.  Her principal areas of emphasis are conditions of confinement in US prisons -- including the treatment of older inmates and those with mental illness,  rape in prison, and supermaximum security confinement -- and racial disparities indrug law enforcement. She brings to this work decades of national and international professional experience. 

Ms. Fellner was a commissioner on the National Prison Rape Elimination Commission.  She has authored and co-authored numerous published reports and articles addressing human rights problems in the United States. Her work has been covered extensively by U.S. and international media and she has appeared on many television and radio shows, including The Today Show, ABC World News, CBS Evening News, CNN Crossfire, The O’Reilly Factor, Hardball, All Things Considered, Hannity and Colmes, MSNBC, BBC News and Democracy Now. Her op-eds and letters to the editor have been published in the New York Times, the International Herald Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Miami Herald, the Houston Chronicle, Harper’s Magazine, and the Huffington Post.
