Kathy Vaughn

4 Year Old Teacher

My name is Kathy B. Vaughn. I serve as the teacher of the Pre-K Class, Ages 4 to 5.

I believe that children are natural born learners. A child's temperament and attitude toward learning is very important. Therefore, I seek to make learning fun, engaging, and exciting. I believe that every child has a different approach to learning. Each child figures out what works best for them. In addition, each child progresses at his/her own unique pace.

I believe that children learn by a hands-on approach, and through play. They learn by seeing, doing, and trying. Children relate what they learn to previous experiences and use their knowledge in new and different situations. I provide various learning centers in my room to encourage learning and self-management. I change out the centers weekly relating to the new letter/theme of the week. I also tweak them daily to encourage further learning and to ensure that the children do not become bored.

I believe that my role as a teacher is to help children learn and grow physically, socially, emotionally, cognitively, and spiritually. I see myself as a role-model to all of my children.

I am married to a Baptist minister and have served alongside him at churches in Alabama, Arkansas, and Louisiana. I have one adult son/daughter-in-law and two beautiful grandchildren, Caiden, age 9, and Kelsea, age 6.
