Omigod! Lookit my cute laptop mouse!
Omigod! Lookit my cute laptop mouse!
I bought this mouse today; it's made by Targus and is sold at Best Buy for like $16. I've been wanting a mouse for my lappy, but I'm not really all that keen on the wireless mice (when it's a computer peripheral and not an animal, would it then be 'mouses'?) I've seen. I first saw this one about a year or two ago and have wanted one since, but haven't found it outside of bundle deals until today. It's very small and cute (and goes with Control, that's my lappy, very well) and the retractible wire is long enough to go around the back of my computer and still give me room to manuever around. It's optical and it came with a little black bag. Now, I just have to break the habit of using the pad to move the pointer. So far, so good!

LairBob - Standing Desk
This is the more efficient approach I've adopted recently -- I basically keep the monitor at a fixed height that works great for both sitting and standing, and then just put a plastic bin and wooden shelf under the keyboard / mouse to raise them when I want to stand. Very crude, but very effective. Ergonomically, the only two other things I've done are to make sure I'm taking care of my back -- using a pair of shoes with good arch support, and having a cheap bar stool that I got on Craigslist, that I can lean back against as a way of changing up my posture when I'm standing. Like I said...crude, but really effective (and basically free).
