His tail is in a knot. He is SOLD! And he will be living in Belgium! Each PloesiePoesie is 100% handmade and 100% unique. There are no 2 alike. It’s very important that you check these guidelines carefully to see if you and this PloesiePoesie are a good match. These are the 10 tips, favorites and character features of Michael: 1. I really don’t like water. It makes me scared, so please do not wash me. 2. I like playing chess. I can do that for hours. I hope we can play a game together. 3. My psychiatrist says that I have some sort of autistic and mood disorder. I think he’s wrong, but it’s going better since I’m on Prozac. So, please don’t forget my pills. 4. My psychiatrist also thinks I should see more other cats. I was an only child and that’s very rare amongst cats, so I never had the change to play with other cats. 5. I enjoy watching tennis on TV. From left to right to left to right to left to right to left to right to left to right to left. 6. I am fascinated by the world of internet. If you have your computer on, I’d love to sit next to you. But I have to warn you that I get addicted quite easily. 7. I’m scared in the dark, so I would really appreciate it if I can sleep in your bed, otherwise I start meowing all night long, so you won’t have a good night sleep. Sorry. 8. My favorite drink is vodka. It makes me really relaxt, so if I cannot sleep in your bed, please give a vodka before sleeping. 9. I’m really good at making Sudoku puzzles. 10. I’m a pizza cat. If you give me a salami pizza every day, I’m a happy cat.
Visual Metaphor for Autistic Perception
Visual Metaphor for Autistic Perception
This is my attempt at a visual metaphor of autistic perception. When I was driving today and noticed that the thick snow had covered most of the roadsigns, I was thinking about how the social world seems like that in autism. We may know there are rules, but can't make out what the details are, or are looking at the wrong side of the sign, so end up either breaking the rules, applying them too strictly, or misinterpreting. Personally, I learned what the signs said through books and role plays at social work grad school, not through intuition or being able to see through the snow (kind of like how my memory of what the road signs said got me home without speeding or running over pedestrians). The colors and brightness are like the sensory sensitivity and distortion. And yet, it's kind of beautiful and strange, kind of like our sensory experiences can be and we can be, if our social environments are open to our different perceptions rather than expecting we follow the signs we see differently. It's interesting to me what details pop out- the trees, the brightness of the snow, the glow...
