Dubai - Burj Khalifa Sunset
Camera: Nikon D3X Lens: Nikon 16-35mm f/4 G ED VR Focal Length: 18mm Aperture: f/10.0 Shutter Speed : 9 HDR shots ISO: 100 Exposure: Manual Burj Khalifa (Arabic: ??? ?????? "Khalifa Tower"), known as Burj Dubai prior to its inauguration, is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and the tallest man-made structure ever built, at 828 m (2,717 ft). Construction began on 21 September 2004, with the exterior of the structure completed on 1 October 2009. The building officially opened on 4 January 2010, and is part of the new 2 km2 (490-acre) flagship development called Downtown Dubai at the 'First Interchange' along Sheikh Zayed Road, near Dubai's main business district. The tower's architecture and engineering were performed by Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill of Chicago, with Adrian Smith (now at his own firm) as chief architect, and Bill Baker as chief structural engineer. The primary contractor was Samsung C&T of South Korea. In June 2010, Burj Khalifa was the recipient of the 2010 Best Tall Building Middle East & Africa award by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. The total cost for the project was about US$1.5 billion; and for the entire "Downtown Dubai" development, US$20 billion. In March 2009, Mohamed Ali Alabbar, chairman of the project's developer, Emaar Properties, said office space pricing at Burj Khalifa reached US$4,000 per sq ft (over US$43,000 per m2) and the Armani Residences, also in Burj Khalifa, sold for US$3,500 per sq ft (over US$37,500 per m2). The project's completion coincided with the global financial crisis of 2007–2010, and with vast overbuilding in the country, led to high vacancies and foreclosures. With Dubai mired in debt from its huge ambitions, the government was forced to seek multi-billion dollar bailouts from its oil-rich neighbor Abu Dhabi. Subsequently, in a surprise move at its opening ceremony, the tower was renamed Burj Khalifa, said to honor the UAE President, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his crucial support.I need help!
Ok, I've decided on two cameras - the Canon D7 or the Nikon D300s. Both appear to be just about equal in every aspect except one - MPs. The D7 is 18MP while the D300s is 12.1. To be honest, as much as I like to crop, I'm a fan of the larger MP. From what I have researched both are priced about the same. I don't have any Canon or Nikon lenses so this is not a deciding factor. What I want to do is start to invest in my photography "career". I think it's time to jump up to a semi-pro camera. I think both are fine cameras and I'm leading towards the 7D after picking up and playing with both in a Dubai Duty Free shop in the aiport. What do you think? I'm being "hired" as the official photographer for my mother's wedding in a few months so I need to make a purchase in a few weeks to give me time to play with and get accustomed to my choice. Any tips on wedding shooting would be greatly appreciated as well! ;-) I have no idea what I'm doing - I just see something that looks like it would make a good photo and push a button...really...that's all I do most the time. I do play with exposure a lot, though before a shot. What are your thoughts? Oh, and lenses too! I'm going to get two - a good Macro and another all-purpose everything kind of lense...any reccomedations?
