1947 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith Mulliner Sedanca de Ville
1947 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith Mulliner Sedanca de Ville
Chassis no. WZB28 - Engine no. W27B This rand-hand drive Silver Wraith was delivered new to a customer in New York early in 1948 and was, therefore, never registered in the UK until imported in 2000. The car was acquired in 1988 when the previous owners were living in the USA. The car was personally restored by the previous owners in the 1990's, calling on professional help with paintwork, trim and restoration of interior woodwork which was all re-veneered. This was a body-off project and nothing was left untouched (except the gearbox, which was about the only part that worked) right down to the powder coating of the bare chassis. All of the work is fully documented with photos and video. Since completion, the car has only been driven any distance on the road once, in 1999 for the RROC regional concours in Chicago where it was awarded "Best of Show" out of about 100 Rolls-Royces and Bentleys. As might be expected after such an extensive rebuild, the car starts and runs well, the engine smooth, powerful and running like the proverbial Swiss watch. Indeed, the whole vehicule is just like new and can be expected to provide many years of reliable and enjoyable driving. It is also highly usable under modern driving conditions, being quite swift and responsive. For safety reasons, turn signals have been incorporated in the running lights, though the original trafficators are still in place and operational. In short: everything works as should. A wonderfully majestic vehicle of great presence and proven concours winning potential, the car is presented in excellent condition in every respect and comes with an original leather suitcase, tailored dust cover, fully restored tool kit, original and re-print handbooks, parts list and workshop manual. Price: $250,000
Gigantic Crab Legs
Gigantic Crab Legs
We decided to eat breakfast at the Paris Hotel and Casino's Le Village Buffet on our last day in Las Vegas. We timed it so that we would get in for breakfast prices, but still be able to catch the beginning of the lunch buffet about halfway through our meal. We each had a plate of breakfast, then went to get some lunch. Valerie was excited about getting some crab legs and came back with a plate full of them. By comparison to other buffets we'd been to during our vacation, the Paris Le Village Buffet crab legs were quite large. No sooner had we started eating our lunch than our server came over and presented us with the gigantic Alaskan King Crab legs you see in this photo. For comparison purposes, I put one of the buffet's "normal" crab legs in the front (the one that's smaller and more orange than the rest). We have no idea why she gave us these crab legs (she said they were, "for VIPs," but we're certainly not VIP-type of people), but we think it might have been because we were sitting in front of the only window that outsiders could look through to size up the buffet. Lucky us! Oh, and Valerie said they were the best crab legs she's ever had (and she's eaten a LOT of crab legs in her lifetime).
