Look 118-1 CANDY CANE
Christmas Inspired Look #4 ~CANDY CANE~ Okay this one was probably the most elaborate look I've ever done it took quite a while but I was extremely pleased with how well it turned out. I got an ass load of compliments from everybody at work and when I went shopping today. That makes the time investment worth it. I'll explain it in steps. Step 1: Mascara: Loreal Feather Lash (my fav) Step 2: Too Faced Shadow Insurace as my primer. Step 3: Beauties Factory 120 Palatte Red #109 applied to whole lid. Step 4: Fleshtone #63 for highlight. Step 5: Shimmer white #62 on top of the fleshtone #63, do not blend with red because I wanted there to be a noticable contrast between the white and red but I didn't want to blend out the red with the white fist because then you get pink and I didn't want pink so I blended with fleshtone and then put the white on. Step 6: Mehron Paradise Palette Basic White as a liner for my lid. Step 7: Amuse glitter liner in Silver over the Mehron White liner for just a tad o' sparkle! Step 8: Mac Kohl Pencil in Fascinating around my tear duct as a shadow base. Step 9: Shimmer white #62 for tear duct on top of the white pencil base. Step 10: Mehron White as a color base for my whole under eye. STep 11: Shimmer white #62 on top of the Mehron to lock in the white color. Step 12: Mehron Paradise Palette Tropical Red to make the little angeled red stripes on the under eye. Step 13: Red #109 on top of the Mehron Red stripes to lock on the color. Step 14: Mac Kohl Pencil in Fascinating for water line. Step 15: Curl Lashes and WHAM - CANDY CANE CITY! Note: I plan on doing more red and green combos during this month but I also plan on doing one titled "Christmas Tree Lights" and it shall rivel this one in its complexeity - oh my! ~_^
Today was the first time I tried using one of my Wet n Wild Idol Eyes Creme Shadow Pencils. The one I used today was Techno (purple) and of all the WnW pencil's it was the one with the worst pigmentation. I am aware creme pencils must be applied very lightly (I am no stranger to creme shadows). I applied a very small amount to the middle of the lid and sheered it out with my finer than applied the purple shadow over the top (and yes I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance as my primer first). Once I had blended Techno into my lid there was almost no color left to it. I am aware that these pencils are supposed to sheer out a bit but in comparison to other jumbo pencils I've used I'd say the opacity of this color was the worst I've ever seen. As for the eyeshadow application over the creme - horrible. The shadow applied very patchy and blending was made difficult. I use Mac creme shadows most often and never have any problems with patchiness or blendability when using mac creme color. Within 2 hours I could see that my shadow was beginning to crease and after 4 hours it was a total mess. Normally I can get a creme shadow to last 6-8 - depending on which primer I use and depending on which creme shadow I use. 2 Hours is rather unacceptable so I'd have to give this pencil a 2/10. I'll hang onto it to use as a base for tear duct color application and under eye color application where creasing isn't really an issue, but this color will never touch my lids again. The other WnW pencils had better pigmentation so maybe they'll have a better formula. I hope the other colors aren't as bad as this one. *You can see in this picture of the look (more than in the other picture) just how patchy the shadow looks thanks to the crappy creme base.
