Helena's 3rd Annual Birthday Bonanza
Helena's 3rd Annual Birthday Bonanza
It's that time of the year again, when I get older. To celebrate this I tend to do some big crazy things at my store. This year is no different, other then the fact that as I started to set up, I got attacked by hunt harpies! those darn things are everywhere now . . . Hunt Harpie-A creature not of myth in sl. You will see them all over, following unexpected victims, ready to snatch hunt prizes from said victim's grasp. One of the only deterrents is to bash yourself randomly against the wall, to make them think you are slightly noobish, they don't like the noobs. So here I was, on my own sim, in my own store, when a crowd of hunt harpies swoop in! Now obviously I was not on a hunt, dude it's my own store. But they don't notice names, they just go "oh there is someone, lets follow them around and see if they find the treasure". This has always been an agrivation for me. When finally after 20 minutes they figure out I'm not doing much of anything, they IM me and ask if I was on the hunt, and if the could get hints? Ermmmmm NO! Then the whining begins, oh how hunt harpies whine! Well I was slightly famished, so I put on my best smile, then set out for a bit of harpie flesh. Not the tastiest meat, but hey, it's shuts up their traps right? A few minutes later, after catching the last one, and plucking each feather from it's body, I notice a slight glimmer to the feathers. Picking one up out pops a trinket of sorts? hmmmm what is this? Seems like the hunt harpies hide their many stolen treasures in amongst their feathers! So what is a girl to do, I have left feathers from my mad rampage of plucking all over the store and sim. Will you help find them all? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~The Festivities~~~ All events will take place between the time frame listed below April 19th Noon slt-May 2nd 11:59pm slt ~~~The Stringer Mausoleum~~~ All hair packs down to L$50 All Megapacks of hair down to L$600 Various other items in the store down to 1/2 off *Items released at the Alternative Fair and any new store releases during this time will not be discounted. Ode to 2010
Ode to 2010
2010 has definitely been a year of ups and downs ... unfortunately a lot of downs but lucky for me, I have wonderful folks like you to rant to and to give me support when I need it. Thank you so very much! Sorry this is a bit long ... it's been quite the year! Downs: The biggest one was of course the loss of my sister, Karen, in April. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home after a five year battle with ALS. Though part of me knew it was coming, there was just no way to be ready for this blow. But thankfully family and friends - many of you here that I've never met (yet) - offered their kind words and support and helped me keep my sanity through this devastating loss. This Christmas was very difficult without her. Her family and I miss her dearly but take some comfort in the fact that she's no longer suffering and made it through this difficult time with the kindness of others like you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. The co-ed slo pitch team that I played with for 17 years folded because the guys wanted to play more competitive mens' ball. I did end up playing with another friend's team and had fun but it wasn't quite the same as playing with the Knights. I had a wipe out on my bike in May but luckily only suffered a bruised ego, along with a bruised leg and ribcage thanks to my trusty pink bike helmet. Whew! In July, the same bike I wiped out on was stolen from Harbourfront. *#*^&#*$*!!!! My bike karma wasn't very good this year unfortunately. Very upsetting but sometimes you just have to let it go - it is just an object but it's hard not to feel violated when things like this happen. Ups: Lizzie, Alfred and I started off 2010 with brunch and hitting the Polar Bear Dip to watch a bunch of crazy, positive and fun folks take a chilly plunge into Lake Ontario! It was a great way to start off the new year and we're looking forward to doing it again this year with our photo walk group - see y'all tomorrow! We also discovered the Toronto Photo Walk group here on Flickr and have had a great time exploring Toronto with this group of folks and have made some wonderful friends along the way. I'm looking forward to a New Year of walks with this crew! I had another successful photography show in March at the Side Space Gallery with the help of the curator, Schuster Gindin. "Behind Glass" was a big hit with many folks attending the event. Thank you to Mondo for the help with scanning and printing; thank you to Sally for the faaaaaaantabulous cake; thank you to Lizzie and Alfred with the mannequin hunting and thank you to all the friends that came out to see my show and be so supportive. Though the G20 caused much chaos around Toronto it also brought a wonderful visitor (even if he was sleepy) when Philip came to Toronto to work for part of the event and have some vacation time as well. So good to see you again my dear friend! Hopefully it won't be another two years before we cross paths again. Even though my bike was stolen, I luckily still had my old Bush Pilot bike in storage. I cleaned it up and then with the help of my friend Derek, we gave it a rehaul and a tune up and got it back on the road. I'm eternally thankful to him for helping me with this and teaching me some new stuff about bicycle maintenance. I'm hoping to find a gently used vintage style bike sometime over the winter and then with Derek's help have a cool new ride in time for Spring! In October, my grrl Lizzie and I kicked butt (or at least I did - lol!) at the Zombie walk as Zombie slayers; next year it will be back to the ranks of Zombies. Can't wait! This Christmas was hard with being the first one without my sister. Along with that, my brother in law and niece were ill with colds so we didn't have a chance to meet up over the holidays and will have to wait until the new year to see each other. Hopefully they're feeling better soon! But I had friends to keep me company over the holidays and made a nice Christmas dinner for myself and a friend. I wish you all the very best in 2011 my dear Flickr friends - you deserve all the joy, adventure, love and success that you can handle! Again with this new year, I'll be starting off shooting at the Polar Bear Dip. I think it's going to be a tradition now. It's such a wonderful, fun and positive way to start off the year. Can't wait to share more photos, comments and experiences with you in the year ahead! Much love! oxo
