It's a little sad to be so excited about a new kitchen appliance, but I'm all about the technology. But after years of being the only person I know to evangelize the wonders of the pressure cooker, I finally decided to get what my British husband would term "The Dog's Bollocks of Pressure Cookers." This thing automatically brings itself up to pressure, switches gears and starts timing when it reaches the correct pressure, then turns itself down and goes into keep warm mode once the food is done. Not to mention you can put the cheapest cut of meat into this thing and have it emerge as meltingly soft as Kobe beef. Of course, you can do that with a cheap old pressure cooker too, but where's the fun in that. Inaugural meal was veal shanks osso bucco shared with Noeknit and drive-design. Drive was insisting he wasn't going to ever eat veal, but afterwards he was wondering what other baby cows he could kill.

We literally destroyed our steam pressure cooker back in Ottawa, so we decided to get a new one in Cuba. Difficult to find and expensive in Canada, here in Cuba it is a most to have these cooking apparatus. They come way cheaper in the island and they cut your cooking time by 70% or more. Mandy was really happy though we carried it in our hands from an entire morning. Here we are passing by the train station, though is the second one built in Cienfuegos (First one was in Reina, next to the docks), this station still has the loud colors and simple lines of the colonial design.
