The derailleur hanger was totally broken in 2 pieces and at first glance, I thought the derailleur was broken too. But, after I took it off and looked at it, it kind of looks like just the inner cage is all bent up. I would need to have it looked at by a mechanic, but I think maybe it's possible to just replace the metal part instead of replacing the whole thing. I guess buying a used bike online is a bit risky this way in that you don't know the condition of the bike until you get it, but I think even with this I think it was still a pretty good deal. On the other hand, if the hanger failure happened when I was going downhill or something, things could have been much worse.
Me and my bike. I own this shit. Don't steal it. I'm going to trick it out soon. Haha, that basically means two U-locks, a headlight, wireless computer, rear red tail light, front fenders, etc... I got a new bike on Saturday, October 21st. I kind of thought it would take a long time for me to pick one out but I did my shopping online before I went to Village Cycle Center. I also thought the money situation would hinder buying a new bike, but my dad is financing it for me.
