One aspect of BerkeleyTIP is Free Culture. This page will have some info & links about that topic.
Some examples of free culture are Wikipedia, CreativeCommons.  People make free culture art, being images, music, audio, video.  Are there any free culture sculptures?

BTIP will work to have video/talks/lectures, & scheduled discussion times about free culture topics.

Be sure to share with us, on the mailing list, & at the meetings, your works & efforts & interests in free culture.

We would benefit from someone who wants to be in charge of BTIP free culture efforts - things like helping find videos, speakers, instigate activities, & be in charge of this web page.  Let us know if you'd like to do any of this.   Thanks.

[Note to Windsor - hey - I think those smilies are great - can we leave them here?  PS:  Maybe our artist members could make some cool smiley images that you would like.  Minimalist perhaps.  Maybe not in bright yellow.  Ie, more mature & aesthetically pleasing smileys.  Maybe in pastel greens.  Or browns.  Or flesh tones.  Maybe a wise old Yoda smiley.  Maybe a linus, or RMS, or jono bacon smiley.  Maybe a Mark Shuttleworth smiley.  Maybe an Akanna Peck smiley. Ie, not aol smileys.  Not kindergarten smileys (although, I might like a finger painted smiley.    ).     PPS: Windsor - I thnk we should leave this note to you here.  I think it is a very informative & useful note.  [I'd put a smiley right here, but I suspect that would be excessive to your personal & webmaster sensibilities. So, please consider these two sentences to be a textual smiley.] ]

[Note to John: I was able to find a nice Firefox plugin called FoxReplace that performs client-side text replacement on web sites. I set up a rule to remove smileys on my GMail and this website. Feel free to knock yourself out with the smileys now. -Windsor]
