How Toastmasters Works

Members learn by speaking to groups in a supportive environment. An ideal Toastmasters club is made up of 20 people who meet once a week for about an hour. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice.

The diagram above shows how you can become a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM), which is the highest Toastmasters award recognized for both communication and leadership skills.

Club Meeting Roles

The success of a Toastmasters meeting depends on the participants. There are many roles to fill and each job is designed to improve the members’ public speaking and leadership skills.
