Kia Ora, Auckland!
Kia Ora, Auckland!
The photo is taken from the top of Mount Victoria, Devonport, Auckland. In order to achieve the fish-eye alike foreground I have taken multiple panoramic pictures using wide-angle lens and stitched them later with lots of cropping. Camera: Nikon D90 Lens: Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 Focal Length: 17mm Aperture: F16 Exposure: 15 secs ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some background stuff about Mount Victoria: Mount Victoria (known to the Maori as Takarunga)[1] is the highest volcano on Auckland's North Shore, rising to 87 m. It erupted some 20,000 years ago, and its lava flows now line much of Devonport's waterfront. An important pa once occupied its slopes, and some of the pa's earthworks can still be seen.[2] Named after Queen Victoria, the hill provides panoramic views of Auckland's Waitemata Harbour and the inner Hauraki Gulf. Over the years the peak and upper slopes have housed a signal station for shipping,[3] artillery emplacements and various concrete army bunkers, some from as early as the 1870s. One bunker now serves as the venue for the Devonport Folk Club.[4] The local Tennis Club is also located on the slopes of Mount Victoria.
