What is PTA?
The Parent Teacher Association is a national non-profit organization run by volunteers with the following mission:
· To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
· To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children;
· To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.
What does Bennie PTA do?
Board members and parent volunteers organize and offer numerous activities throughout the school year such as
· In-school programs like MI Science Center, A day with Jonathon Rand, and more to come!
· Evening events for the whole family: Bennie Movie Night, Family Fun Night, Skate Night, and Bingo for Books!
· In school events like Walk/Bike to School, Mardi Gras Math, Science Fair, and Field Day!
· Advocacy alerts for legislation issues related to children and schools.
· Grants/Funding Requests for teachers and the media center.
· Scholastic Book Fair-November and February- providing quality products for your family while raising money for programs.
· Support for 5th grade camp.
How can I participate in Bennie PTA?
· Become a member.
· Volunteer to help at or lead a PTA event.
· Attend meetings and make suggestions.
· Participate in fundraisers.

If you are a member of Bennie PTA, you are a member of Michigan PTA! Michigan PTA advocates for all children in Michigan. The state PTA also provides training and enrichment programs for local unit PTA members and officers.
