Established in 1994, Bennett Fox Designs is the Australian-based practice of Kim Johnston. I design and make a range of works including ergonomic seating, cabinets, tables, lighting, and a small but growing range of kitchen and tableware through to exhibition specific pieces. I largely work with wood but include other materials when relevant, as well as working collaboratively with artists across a range of mediums.

I’ve also completed major architectural joinery conservation projects, furniture and object restoration with a particular emphasis on finishes, and will undertake select furniture conservation, refinishing and repair work. On site consultation and assessment services can also be provided.

During 2003-2005 I was at the Woodworkshop at Canberra School of Art (now ANU School of Art & Design) researching and developing ergonomic performance seating for musicians. This is an ongoing focus that not only aims to provide seating of lasting benefit to musicians and general users, but also utilises sustainable timber sources, materials and processes in their design and making.

Currently based in Canberra, I can be contacted by email or phone - please see the Contact page for details where you'll also find my copyright notice.
