Our Organisation was established in the year 1919 by a group of persons who preferred Bengalee language and literature. Most of them were Railway employees. The objective was to work for cultivation of the language, to elevate the poor, backward and downtrodden people of Chakradharpur and surrounding areas, to promote cultural activities, to unite citizens of Chakradharpur irrespective of caste, creed and religion and to organize Durga Puja and other festivals every year.

The pre-independence period was very tough. But the clear vision and confidence protected Association from all odds. More and more new members joined and the Association became stronger day by day. The number of members other than Bengalis were also increasing. Durga Puja, cultural programmes spread the massage of love and brotherhood and Association became a home for common man. Post independence period was also difficult and our country was in a transformation phase and the then members who participated in national movement tried their best to strengthen our Association. The Association faced a severe challenge during emergency in the year 1972. But the social objectives of the Association always kept it farm and alive.

In the year 1994, Association started organizing a yearly blood donation camp. Now we are organizing twice in a year. One in the memory of Late Nimu Sarkar (Nimu Da) and the other in the memory of Late Raju Bose. Unfortunately enough both of them had to face an unnatural and untimely death. They will be remembered forever.

During the year 1929, Association got the permission to run a primary school. In the year 1988, the then Govt.of Bihar undertook all private schools and now it is running as “Bengali Girls High School” in our building. We are running dance classes in our “Nritya Kala Mandir” adjacent to Durga Mandir. We are running coaching classes for poor and meritorious students upto class XII. We have two oxygen cylinders for the needy patients. Batchmates(Bandhu Mahal) of G.M. School, Chakradharpur. We have three wings namely Social Sub-Committee, Cultural Sub-Committee & Mandir Sub-Committee.

Each and every year a lots of fruits, that comes to us as offerings during the Durga Puja and other occasions are sent to the nearby Railway Hospital for the patients.

In the 2012, we have organized Netaji Jayanti, Rabindra Jayanti, Rabindra-Nazrul Sandhya, Bengali New Years Day, a seminar on the life of Swami Vivekananda, two blood donation camps, one health camp for alternative medicine, Basanti Puja, Durga Puja and sports on Vivekananda Diwas ( Youth Day Festival).

We organize Durga Puja every year. In the year 2008, the then members decided to consecrate the permanent Marble Idol of Maa Durga, Laxmi, Saraswati, Kartik and Ganesh. Healthy and enthusiastic response from all classes of people resulted consecration of Maa Durga. But family members of Maa i.e. Kartik, Ganesh, Laxmi and Saraswati couldn't be consecrated for want of adequate fund.

Chakradharpur being a Railway Divisional Head Quarter for the South Eastern Railways of the Indian Railways, a major part of its population is related to Railways. Most of our members are Railway employees. Our Durga Mandir, Nitya Kala Mandir and our leased land near NH-75, all fall on the Railway area.

We have many peoples associated with us from the time of establishment till now we have become a very big family, whose members are now scattered round the globe. Many of them manages to make a visit during the Durga Puja in the Bengalee Association Puja Pandal and enjoys a reunion.

Anyone and everyone, irrespective of their mother tongue, caste and religion, are welcome to become a member of our family and work with us for the betterment of our future and to make our society a better place to live in.

We are happy to announce that the decision has been taken by our Association to fulfill our moral responsibility of consecrating the permanent marble idols of Gods and Goddesses Ganesh, Kartik, Lakshmi and Saraswati.

We shall remain grateful towards each and every citizen, student, public society, organisation and institution for your wholehearted support in consecrating the idol of "Maa Durga" in the year 2008. Your continuous support generated strong confidence in us. We are optimist that your determination, perseverance, cooperation and financial aid will lead us to achieve our mission and transform our efforts to reality.

We earnestly appeal to all and everyone to donate generously for the noble cause that we have been continuing since 1919 with a firm belief of achieving the success.
