Benjamin A. Pierce




Ben Pierce is Professor of Biology and holder of the Lillian Nelson Pratt Chair in Biology at Southwestern University. He teaches courses in Genetics, Evolution, Methods in Ecology and Evolution, and a First Year Seminar entitled Guide to the Genome: Personal Genetics in the 21st Century.  Pierce is a  population geneticist who conducts research on the genetics, ecology, and evolution of amphibians.  He is also author of several best-selling genetics textbooks, including Genetics: A Conceptual Approach, Genetics Essentials, and Transmission and Population Genetics.
