COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course covers the theory and operation of broadcast audio and recording studio equipment. We will explore the physics of sound, the proper use of microphones, audio mixing consoles, analog and digital tape recorders, digital audio workstations and other common broadcast and studio equipment. Class consists of a mixture of lecture and lab time. Students will complete projects outside of class and during lab hours.
ONLINE SECTIONS: If you enroll in an online lecture section, all of your lecture work will be done via the online course shell. The Final Exam will be taken in person, but the rest will be online.
LECTURE SECTIONS: If you enroll in the face-to-face sections, you will attend lecture twice a week. There is a Midterm and Final exam along with quizzes and in class assignments.
LAB: Both ONLINE and LECTURE SECTIONS will attend labs on campus. Labs are a mixture of online and face-to-face students. Labs are designed to build upon and cement the skills and knowledge learned in lecture.
