Welcome to my website.

I lecture in genomics at Plymouth University.

Most of my recent research has been on the evolution of endogenous retroviruses, which are viruses that due to their replication cycle have become part of our genome sequence. Currently I am investigating whether they, and other genomic parasites, have a medical role both in causing disease and as a potential therapy target. My teaching focuses on cancer biology and bioinformatics.

I am an Academic Editor for the PLoS Pathogens and PLoS ONE journals.
