Open Competition  2013

The Club held its 35th annual Spring Bank Holiday Open Doubles competition on 27th May, and would like to express its appreciation of the support from the Foresters Friendly Society.

Blessed with fine (if cool) weather, 32 pairs from clubs both in the  local area and further afield produced a day of thrilling and competitive bowling.

The defending champions,  teenagers Billie & Eddie Marshall,  were beaten in the 1st round.

The Quarter Finals results:

 I.Brentnall & I.Mellin           beat  C.Staff & L.Gallimore

 P.Haywood & C.Wilkinson  beat  C & G .Riley

 B & F.Lowe                           beat  A.Lawrence & I.Maxwell

 L.Pacey & D.Sherwin            beat  M.Smith & D.Parlett

In the exciting Semi-Finals the results were:

 I.Brentnall & I.Mellin  beat  P.Haywood & C.Wilkinson   21-14

 B & F.Lowe                  beat  L.Pacey & D.Sherwin           21-15

In the final, both pairs produced some high quality bowling, but in the end the two Ians,  Brentnall & Mellin, edged out Barbara & Fred Lowe  21-14
