Haiku Workshop with Seren Fargo
Firehouse Cafe in Fairhaven - 1314 Harris Ave.
Four sessions: Wednesdays - April 27, May 4, 18, and 25, 2011
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Contemporary English Haiku Writing
Join us in exploring the haiku experience. Unlike what most of us learned
in school, contemporary English haiku is not restriced to a rigid syllable
count of 5-7-5. This course will teach a focus on content rather than formulas,
freesing the writer to more fully and effectively express themselves.
Take part in fun sensory activities, such as going on an outdoor haiku walk
to explore both Mother Nature and human nature. Discover how haiku
writing can open up the world in unexpected ways and allow you to express
the depth in the profound or the mundane, whether joy, sadness, or humor.
Seren Fargo is founder and coordinator of the Bellingham Haiku Group,
which began in the spring of 2009. She has been writing haiku since 2008
and has many haiku and other Japanese-form poetry published in
various journals in several countries, including the U.S., Japan, and Croatia.
Cost: $45/person for the complete 4-session class.
               RSVP deadline is April 15.
            Pre-registration payment of $20 due April 18.
