Wind River

Wind River

Rating: 5/5

Wind River is a film directed by Taylor Sheridan. The film follows the investigation of the murder of a young Native American girl. The investigation is led by Cory Lambert, played by Jeremy Brenner, who is a wildlife officer and an FBI agent named Jane Banner, played by Elizabeth Olsen.

Together the two protagonists are a team to be reckoned with despite their differences. Banner comes from the city of Las Vegas and is very naive to the dangers of a Wyoming winter, whereas Lambert is woods smart but is struggling to put his difficult past behind him.

Though the film is quite bleak from beginning to end, it is a story that shows how deep the love of family can run, and what will and determination can do.

This movie bares some similarities to the Coen Brother's movie Fargo. It is set against a similar frigid landscape, and has a strong female lead. However where this movie takes a sharp turn from Fargo is it does not posses the same sense of off putting humor that Fargo has.

Wind River is not for the faint of heart, but is an excellent film nonetheless. It is quiet but jarring. A must watch for any movie goer who enjoys a dark crime story with a touch of wilderness survival.

Great film for fans of Fargo and Walking Out
