Warré beehives and bee hive kits for natural, sustainable bee-friendly beekeeping.

The Warré Hive, meant for hands-off, minimalist and sustainable beekeeping practices, is used extensively by backyard beekeepers. The hive was developed by Abbé Emile Warré (1867-1951) and described in the book "Beekeeping For All".

Warré experimented with some 350 hives of various designs with the aim of producing a hive that was simple, economical, bee-friendly and assured a surplus for the beekeeper. An important feature of Warré's method is that the hive need be opened, in the strict sense, only once a year, namely at harvest.

As a beekeeper with long experience in woodworking, I found it natural to build my own hives. To build the most bee-friendly hives, we used the original and universally accepted specifications by Abbé Émile Warré.
