Queen Rearing and Colony Increase

This series includes queen rearing and colony increase workshops.  
It consists of classroom sessions, demonstrations, hands-on lessons in the bee yard, homework assignment, and quiz. Participants are required to have completed a short course and have at least one year of experience in maintaining colonies.

 Course Description:

The Queen Rearing Workshop runs for two consecutive days on a weekend and then one Saturday following. Each class is three hours in duration for a total of 9 hours of instruction. Participants must attend all class sessions to be eligible for the certificate of completion. In addition to in class time participants will be expected to complete a comprehensive final quiz.

  • Participants in the queen rearing workshop will get to take two queen cells home.

Description: 

The Colony Increase Workshop can be taken separately or as an add on to the Queen Rearing Workshop.  It consists of three days for two hours each day.  The add-on is designed for those who want to take queen rearing to more seriously and improve their skills and knowledge with colony increase methods and techniques.   The workshop will consist of  classroom instruction, hands-on activity, and a final evaluative quiz.
