Keeping honey bees can be socially, environmentally and economically rewarding.  Whether you are a new beekeeper, would like to learn a specific beekeeping skill or just take your operation to the next level Bee CARE Institute offers training and classes that will fully support you in your efforts.

  • Beekeeping 100 Beginning Beekeeping
    This course is as six week classroom based course for new beekeepers.
    100 Short Course (Beginning Beekeeping)

    10:am - 12:30 Saturday January 12, 19, 26 & February 2, 9, 16
    15 credit hours

    1400 Quincy St NE, Washington, DC 20017   

    This is great preparation course for the beginning beekeeper or bee enthusiast alike.  It is is an urban beekeeping course and is designed so that new beekeepers have the know-how and access to resources so that they can bee responsible and successful city beekeepers.  The course fee of $185 includes all lectures, text book, and light refreshment. Upon completion of the course, participants will be presented with a certificate.

  • We'll be at Rooting DC Rooting DC is a FREE, all-day urban gardening forum March 3, 2018   Thank you to the Franciscan Monastery Garden Guild for the invitation to share their table.  Depending on the weather between now and then we may have the observation hive with us (fingers crossed)

  • Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens Youth Outreach We'll be back again this year for Nature Fest at Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens. We'll be engaging in outreach and youth education leading a morning activity station from 10:am - 12:pm on Tuesday, March 27th for "Animal Encounters" day.  As usual we will bring an observation hive, honeysticks, puppets, and activity books.  Were always open to new ideas in getting kids on board with bees and we love to share these outreach activities with volunteers.
