Report of English Schools Cross Country Championships

Tia Wilson Stars Again

Tia Wilson (Bedford College) was once again the star of the Bedfordshire and Luton Schools Cross Country Team at the English Schools Championships, held in a wet and windy Temple Newsam Park Leeds last Saturday.

Heavy rain earlier in the week made it tough going up the steep hills and mudslides of the downhills; difficult conditions for all runners in all races. But Tia made light of the conditions and was always in or near the lead group in the Senior Girls Race over 4.1Kilometres.

Tia’s 5th place followed on from her silver medal in the National Inter-counties U 17 race the previous week and three top eight places in the School’s Championships in the previous four years.

In the same Senior Girls race, Lucy-Mae Shepherd (Wootton), finished 81st, whilst Sofia Perusko (BMS) was 8th in the Inter Girls. Noah Campion (Lincroft) was 41st in the Junior Boys, wit Tristan Cook (also Lincroft) 94th in the Inter Boys version.

The Senior Boys were the best placed Beds. & Luton Team in 21st place with 4 runners in the top 100: Ed Blythman (Bedford School) 43rd; Harry Brodie (St Thomas More) 67th; Jed Noblett (Manshead); 74th; and Aiden Killeen (Harlington) 80th.
