Our next Pack meeting is Thursday, 1/18 at 6.30pm at McKelvie School Cafeteria.

There a few things that I would like to bring to your attention:
1. This Pack meeting is our Uniform inspection. This is also a den level competition and the winning Den gets their name listed on the plaque. All cub scouts will be checked for:
a. Cleanliness (Posture, Face, Hands, Fingernails, Hair)
b. Uniform (Cap, Neckerchief, Slide, Shirt, Belt, Patches, Belt)
c. Attendance

Please make sure to dress your cub scouts so they can win the award for their Dens.

2. If you have signed up for the events and not paid as yet, or if you have balance payable for registration, popcorn or anything else, please remember to bring in your checkbooks. We do accept credit cards, but an additional 3% may be applicable.

3. January 21st is our Snow Tubing. For all those who have signed up, please don't forget to fill in the Waiver forms and bring them with you. This will speed up our checkin process and we will get more time on the slope. Here is a link to the form: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BynPBNlf9kmhTnpneGpZSm9YWDNlanlGdTFzam50M2VSekQ4

4. We have a sleepover at the Montshire Museum in Vermont on 3/3 -  3/4. Due to requirements laid by the museum, we need everyone to register by 1/31. Registration is $40 per person. We need a minimum of 25 people (adults and children) to go for this event. Siblings are welcome. https://www.montshire.org/

5. If you have registered for the Monarchs game and sleepover for 2/3 - 2/4, please send a note to me or Mr. Krones indicating if you plan to attend the sleepover or if you are going for the game only.

6. Lastly, we will have extra Pinewood derby cars for sale for Adults and Siblings @ $5 each. They will be available during the Pack meeting. There are some cub scouts who have not picked up their cars. Please do pick them at the January meeting. Pinewood derby car kits for cub scouts are free.

See you all on Thursday.

Scouting for Food

posted Oct 25, 2017, 6:50 PM by Pack 5 Webmaster

Scouting for food service event is on Saturday 10/28 and then on next Saturday 11/4.

For those who are not familiar with Scouting for food, here are some details:
Scouting for food is a 2 weekend service project where scouts collect food donation from all over the town.
On 10/28, the cub scouts collect door tags from Bedford Presbyterian Church between 8am and 12pm where Troop 414 scouts will assign routes for the cub scouts to distribute the door tags. You can pick routes based on your comfort. Each route has roughly 50 houses to cover in a neighborhood.
On 11/04, cub scouts go back to the Presbyterian Church to pickup new route and then collect non perishable food bags between 9am and noon for the selected route.

A few things to consider:
Scouting for food is not mandatory. While we encourage people to participate both weekends, we understand that it may not be possible for all. Please participate to your best capacity.
The routes are available on first-come-first-serve basis. So even if you are planning to do your route later in the morning, please try and get the route as early as possible.
Cub scouts need to be present to sign in when you pickup the routes and sign out when complete. The Pack gets credit for all your service hours.
Cub scouts are required to wear their Class A uniform when participating.

If you have any questions, please reach out to us.

The Families receiving these food items are counting on all of us.
