Hi, I'm Fifi!
Hello and welcome to Becoming an eTeacher, a five-module course on getting online and becoming an eTeacher.
We will follow Fifi, our teacher, as she learns the essential skills needed to begin eTeaching.
This course is in five parts, preceded by an introduction video (to the right). You can preview the modules to see which of them you want or need to complete on its own, or you can complete them all one-by-one in your own time, at your own pace. If you complete them all, we suggest you complete them in order, beginning with Module 1.
Who this course is for?
- Any teacher who ever wanted a practical way to begin their eTeaching adventure but didn't know where to start.
- Any teacher who thought it might be useful to have a website for their educational work.
- Any teacher who is curious about how the Internet can be used to help their students.
What skills or knowledge do I need to do this course?
only need to know some internet and computer basics, like how to go to a web page, how to use email, how to use basic word
processing commands, and stuff like that. If there is anything you are
not sure how to do, then just go to www.youtube.com and do a search for it. There is usually a video there to show you how to do nearly anything to do with computers and such.
What will I learn?
will learn how to make your own website and manage it, how to use
accessibility tools, how to manage content in a professional way, and
even how to make your own 'podcast' if you wish. To the right is our
introduction video where you can learn more.
Who is Fifi?
Fifi is our fictional teacher. We build a website for her and give her good e-learning tips. You can visit Fifi's website. To the right is our introduction video where you will meet Fifi.
Who made this course?
course was made by Ed, Erin, Michael and Paul. They are post-graduate
students at the Dublin Institute of Technology, undertaking a Master's
course in Applied eLearning. You can find more information on our 'About' page.
