Did you survive the heat? We barely did and have to confess we did a little dancing in the rain today.

Our inaugural meeting was great! Lots of ideas and issues to address. We talked about:

- Beaverton and Washington County criminalizing homelessness
- Mental Health Training and the Beaverton Police Department
- Beaverton's lack of a Domestic Violence Unit with the BPD
- Plastic Bag ban
- Marijuana Education
- Future relationship with Sunset High School students
- Warming Shelters
- Submitting editorials and human
  interest stories.

Since our meeting, a few more issues have come to our attention and we will talk about adding them to our list at our August meeting.

Our next meeting is Monday, August 3rd 7pm

Pizza Schmizza Raleigh Hills on Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy. If you can make it please RSVP by responding to this email.

Happy Hour starts at 8pm for those who want to sit and chat after.

Our First Action!!

Save the date: Beaverton City Council Meeting, Tuesday, August 18th.

Tualatin Riverkeepers and a property owner are appealing a decision by the City's Planning Commission to fill 2.5 acres of wetland for a new school's sports fields at Cooper Mountain. We will be attending in solidarity. It's also open public comment, so maybe we will prepare some words?
