The 2011 Report on Test Equipment for Testing Electrical, Radio, and Communication Circuits and Motors Excluding Portable Instrument Transformers: World Market Segmentation by City
This report was created for global strategic planners who cannot be content with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a "borderless world", cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their size as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic region (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the total world market.

In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services across cities. The purpose of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a country and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of distribution within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or strategic planner, a city represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another.

In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for the world's major cities for "test equipment for testing electrical, radio, and communication circuits and motors excluding portable instrument transformers" for the year 2011. The goal of this report is to report my findings on the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by a city when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales.

I'm in front of my electronics workstation. I design and build discrete and unique preamps, power amps and integrated audio systems of different classifications and varying circuit topologies. One such build can be seen in the right inset photo from this picture, which is a vacuum tube (OTL high current Mu follower) headphone amplifier, housed in an 1898 Weston Electrical Instrument Company Ammeter gauge chassis, and was built using original 1950's reconditioned, calibrated testing and evaluation equipment, some of my equipment can be seen in the left inset photo from this picture. I also have advanced computer diagnostic analysis at my finger tips, but where's the challenge in that when your working with these fascinating and archaic electronic circuit designs. Another interesting concept design was converting the Telefunken Opus 55, 6 and 7 radios into guitar amplifiers. They are large German 1950's tabletop radios with dual 8" woofers and a 20 watt output, which I modified to about 50 watts, also re-configuring the original control panel into a familiar amplifier control setup, bolstering the radio cabinet with internal reinforcement, plus adding a guitar amp handle strap, chrome cabinet corners, feet, spring reverb, I/O connections and a regulated isolation transformer. It makes a wonderful guitar amplifier that pisses off a lot of antique radio collectors and enthusiasts. I've got about 30 of these unusual " Tele Funky " guitar amps under my belt, However the purchase price of these telefunken opus radios for my guitar amp conversions has sky-rocketed mostly due to their dwindling availability, partially due to the new wave tube craze that hasn't peaked yet. A thorough, thoughtful and well designed layout is of the utmost importance. Part of my life revolves around AUDIO VISUAL DESIGN & TEXT GENERATION, and other interests that include collecting and the restoration of vintage HIFI's for you old school audiophiles out there (we know who you are and where you live, you are being watched), Pro recording equipment, vintage electric guitars and amps (cheesy one's too). Arcade machines, unusual mechanical devices and a passion for weird contraptions, and in memoriam, with all the thriving flee markets and drive-in swap meets, ebay was born and we bid Sanford and Son a fond adieu, and to our governments firm and adamant farewell to traditional YANKEE INGENUITY, which was the backbone, the glue, bringing with it a sense of self, family, neighborhood, town, city and country reliance that translated into a bright new insightful national alliance, spawning a common and majestic sense of goodwill that united and bound American idealism, just like an unstoppable runaway train, this unique ingenuity began to unfurl and set full sail in the 1930's, temporarily distracted yet opportunistically transformed by WWII (spoils of war), only to be rolled back up in the late 1950's, in preparation for Corporate America's takeover and free ride. Now with a tight grip on YANKEE INGENUITY and holding the reins of our bridled government, Their dominance and free ride continue to this present day. However most americans willingly, comfortably and compliantly had succumb to most of their post-war modern trappings, and fell into a warn and fuzzy dreamlike euphoric state, still going about their way with their under groomed myopic mind's eye tightly shut, except for the occasional "George Carlin" one cheek sphincter peek. The 2011-2016 World Outlook for Test Equipment for Testing Electrical, Radio, and Communication Circuits and Motors Excluding Portable Instrument Transformers
This econometric study covers the world outlook for test equipment for testing electrical, radio, and communication circuits and motors excluding portable instrument transformers across more than 200 countries. For each year reported, estimates are given for the latent demand, or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.), for the country in question (in millions of U.S. dollars), the percent share the country is of the region and of the globe. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a country vis-a-vis others. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each country and across countries, latent demand estimates are created. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved.

This study does not report actual sales data (which are simply unavailable, in a comparable or consistent manner in virtually all of the 230 countries of the world). This study gives, however, my estimates for the worldwide latent demand, or the P.I.E., for test equipment for testing electrical, radio, and communication circuits and motors excluding portable instrument transformers. It also shows how the P.I.E. is divided across the world's regional and national markets. For each country, I also show my estimates of how the P.I.E. grows over time (positive or negative growth). In order to make these estimates, a multi-stage methodology was employed that is often taught in courses on international strategic planning at graduate schools of business.
